The Most Notorious Earthly Criminals: Worlds - L

"Tell me comrade; who's killed more through history?
WW II? Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima? Wallstreet perhaps with it's rolling numbers?", the war hero shed a tear on T.V.

The bored monkey left secretly towards the basement. It was time to kill the next member of the biggest murder-gang in the history of civilization. He took his eraser & tortured 'C' to death, just the way he had previously eliminated 'A' & 'B'. The world was now 3/26th safer.

That seems so much like something you would hear on Roger Waters album Amused to Death.

Orhan Khan - RW is among the venerable people I highly respect. That is too big of a complement for me to even sound like the guy.

In my openion nth has ever caused as much of damage as WORDS in our civilization.

I agree, ideas can be dangerous, especially if people start to believe that the ideas are literally the "words" of God! Trouble is, different people hear God saying different things.

I think David said it all. we take what we like from religion and claim it is the word of god.I think this happens in all religions.

without words no killing orders, no hate, no deception, no diplomatic tricks, no ...

also no other countless advantages but I am ready to believe the negativity is taking over by far!

Perhaps words are more destructive than constructive.

Thanks Dew Drops and Starry Nights.

Dr O2, I think from your new comment that you were not really talking about religion. However, words are not needed to accomplish some of the things that you point out. There are many examples in the animal world of killing and deception. For example, Army Ants can coordinate their efforts and kill every living thing within a very large area, relative to their size. Also, there are many animals that use deception to their advantage. They may take the form or color of something else, for example. Both predators and prey can benefit from such trickery.

Here is another thought. Without words there can be no human culture. Ideas could not easily be passed from one generation to another. Maybe this would be good for planet Earth. It is our development of culture that has enabled humans to become the dominant force on our planet. Thousands of species are now extinct, with many more to follow, because of our coordinated attacks. However, there is a lot of good that can be accomplished by our working together too. We are the first species on our world with the potential ability to save our planet from a collision with an asteroid, for example. I know that is a very unlikely event, but it has happened before with devestating results!

There is an argument in America by the pro gun lobby that "guns don't kill people, people kill people" (personally, I hate guns!). Well, maybe words are not at fault here, its how we use them.

I'm not sure if I compeletly agree. Words are no natural phenomena. If you wanna blame somone blame the cause, the human being. The most brutal monster to have ever walked on the face of the earth.

Our understanding of the words is relative not absolute. And not many people are very prudent in picking their words. And here I do truly agree with David on his point about making people believe that the words of the power hungry leaders are words of God.
I put no stock on religion .I have seen lunacy of fanatics of both side…(regarding to crusade wars)
I picked these lines from a movie also I believe ideologies are more lethal than any other weapon.

Is it that bad dr O2?
I hear lots of nonsense stuff almost every day, but then many people live relying on them. I'm sure I'm nonsense to many others which I find ok.

And yet--words can be so beautiful, and bring people together, and make music, and console small children, and tell stories...and write interesting and sweet hallucinations.
