Civil Burrial Of Civilisation...

Some years later in a dusty book held by an unearthly figure:

...and we suddenly woke up to see the device which had taken us centuries to build to guide us all through peacefully, had led us to a major confrontation. Mesmerized by our own creation we decided to ignore the flaw & keep using the pathfinder towards the inevitable promised land of extinction…

I do hope those anthropologists find the remains of Iranian civilization in those days:(

That's why I don't trust science. I don't trust religion either. What do I trust?

This post of yours was truly sign of significant meaning that we will choose our path which leads to extinction.Being unaware of what our destructive toys will do to the humankind.

hmmm, I think the key here is "mesmerized by our creation" - it doesn't really matter if our creation is good or bad, the important thing is to not be self-righteous

Are these Anthropologists aliens from another planet?

I think that our modern civilization is really quite precarious. If it falls, it may never come back to this level. We have extracted nearly all the easy to reach sources of fossil fuel: coal, oil, natural gas, etc. To find new sources, we must use bigger and bigger machines. But, it takes a big machine to make a bigger machine. If civilization falls, all the big machines rust away and then what do we do? I suppose that some analog to the Roman, Chinese, or Inca Empires could be reborn, but such economies were based on human and animal labor. There are serious limitations to what can be accomplished in such a society! Oops, I forgot the wood burning steam engine, but then all the easy to mine iron ore may be exhausted. Maybe our decendents can melt down a big rusty machine to make a few small steam engines. Oops again, I forgot all the landfills full of reusable materials that we have thrown away and rotting garbage that produces methane. Maybe there is hope for our barbarian descendents afterall! ;)

Frank - the longer it takes the less they will find :-D

Kimia - lol. Seems you are one step ahead :-)

spooky - let's hope it is just a BITTER hallucination ;-)

nyx - very good take indeed!

david - alien in every sense :-) I also feel this civilisation is making a u-turn towards animal-hood these days. We are losing our values.

em - but this flaw might prove to be lethal ;-)

NBB - yeah but somewhat more destructive. Perhaps the last episode ;-)
