What's Your Sign?

- "Hello ma'am. Can I have the pleasure of a dance?"
- "Not before I know your birthdate & check with a couple of books sir."

I have a lot to say about this one and I dare you laugh at it!! There is some real in astrology, though I don't like the way some just make money by making people dependent on it on a daily basis.

I am a Capricorn. Hey, is it true that the ancient Persians invented astrology?

behrooz - I also believe it partially but some people base their lives on it. I don believe all such saying are right as they are mostly result of researches into people who were born in certain times.

Frank - me too! but I find it really interesting!

Kimia - I have to find such books for a better view on matters first!! Then step into dance floors with a clear view ;-)

David - many nations claim it but iranians have a great history of astrology & it is understandable to see the roots in Persia :-)

She should've just asked for a sample of blood or perhaps run your DNA. Overkill!
Ppl base too much astrology, and even then, the outcome is not certain . Some decisions to are simple enough to make. One really does not have to make things more complicated than they are.

U know to you it might be a simple dance but to her it might be another thing entirely.

Underlying issues I feel.

This is so funny--though I actually find astrology an interesting intuitive tool (but not just "what's your sign!")

I have never believed in astrology, however, I do believe in the power of positive thinking. Just like a placebo can make a patient feel better sometimes, a positive astrological prediction might have a positive influence on a person. If they believe that something good will happen, they may approach the world with a more positive attitude and this may indeed lead to something good. :)

Btw, my A.D. blog has a new post.

em - hope that's all :-) yet some people are obsessed with Astrology.

Jarvenpa - well it is sth scientific as they put it but still it ain't be all that simple. Individuals do exist ;-)

David - but astrology ain't abt positives only ;-) when there are black marks then it can become very discouraging ;-)

Doc, did some girl refuse you, cause you had the "wrong" sign? haha

If astrology is true, it would be the end of disciplines like psychology, especially personality psychology. That would mean that one's personality is fully determined at birth (it sounds like the opinion of some scientists, I'd like to call "genetic fundamentalists"). Such a view assumes a static personality and personhood. I refuse to believe in that.

hydra - :-) well me ain't the kind to offer without precalculations ;-) the person should be worthy of attention in my openion. it was a friend of mine who had encountered the problem. It was more tense & was over a relationship. This is the minimal version with the main idea only :-D

No matter what you ask for these days, it never seems to be the right thing... =)

LW - yep! that is probably true! Things are so falling apart & interpretations even worse...
