Stupidity X (Pen + Paper) > WMD

... & as the viking army out of boredom begun it's invasion on the volatile shores of middle earth, unknowingly they trespassed the borders of tolerance in the land while back home their cows had started laying eggs...

The reason, the cause & the goal to the act were the only unanswered questions...

I think this post was about the invasion of Iraq, but egg laying cows? Well, why not! :)

Yes, the stupidity in the long white house is just stupifying!

Btw, I am surprised that you haven't yet discovered my new blog. Don't worry, I haven't abandoned the old one. :)

I have been doing some reading on the Danish caricature situation. I read about the boycotts of Danish products now occurring in Muslim countries. It is sad that some of these companies actually employ thousands of people across the Middle East!

I think it was culturally insensitive of the Danish newspaper to portray the Prophet Mohammad, and especially to depict him as a terrorist. However, I have been shocked at the violent responses I have seen on TV! The terrorism has already blackened the image of Muslims in the eyes of the world. These destructive and deadly demonstrations only make things worse! I know that the vast majority of Muslims are peaceful people, but many ignorant Westerners do not.

Along the same theme, last night I came across a web site that shows historical paintings of Mohammad that were created by Muslims themselves. Some of them are Persian! Here is a link:

Since you use Blogrolling to spot updates, I will be sure to ping their system when I have a new post. :)

david - First I must say I am not taking any sides in this fight. However I find it stupid & offensive to attack OTHERS beliefs. Is freedom of speech used to fool around with what is not even related to your own beliefs but others??

Anyways I read the site through out & found it pointless! it claims that there have been cartoons while there have not been cartoons but paintings of holy events with respect. There is nth wrong with that. Yet there might be some of these not widely published in turkey which is not run by a muslim government but still it proves offensive.

What has not been solved for me is the reason behind all this?? Danes were living in peace! why did they have to trigger another impulse of rage in this already volatile community??

well, I've heard a lot of "not so flattering things " about the Danish government and their politics toward imigrants... Without doubt, there are racial forces working all over scandinavia. But, as with the muslim world, it is important to note that the majority of folks are not racists - they are just uneducated.

I certainly have no idea why the Danish newspaper printed the cartoons. I have heard that most Danish people are not religious. Perhaps the newspaper publisher was simply ignorant of the potential to arouse violent passions in Muslim people. (Actually, before this happened, I had never heard of this Islamic prohibition against images of Mohammad.) However, ignorance is no excuse for the lack of apology when it became apparent months ago that Muslims in Denmark had been offended. If they had apologized then, perhaps there would be no demonstrations today.

You make a good point that the cartoons are very different from the respectful religious paintings. Over here in the U.S., the media keeps repeating that Islam forbids images of Mohammad. Well, it would seem that Islam has forgotten some of its own history. But, you are right, that has nothing to do with the intent of the cartoons and the reaction to them.

You are also right that there should be limits on free speech, and indeed there are here in the U.S. Some years ago, Neo-Nazis wanted to march through Chicago where there is a large Jewish population. They were not permitted to do so. Similarly, the Ku Klux Klan (the hated and feared organization that oppressed black people in the U.S. for about 100 years) has not been allowed to march in some cities with mostly black residents. Laws have been passes here that forbid "Hate" speech and "Hate" crimes. Perhaps in the future, Western countries will define the publication of images of Mohammad as a hate crime, along with the painting of swastikas on Jewish homes and temples, or the burning of crosses in the yards of black Americans (something the KKK used to do to cause fear).

I know why they did that. They are peace-stricken people. Boring life without any ups and downs, no traffic, no crowds, no enthusiasm about anything, and no difference in their level of life. no belief, no faith, no comparison, no try to be better and no even fight in any line (cue). No shortage, no disturbance and not even variety in their face. They all look the same. It is a damn dead life; they have to do something, and here is the result.

... & this is somewhat a response from Ahmadinejad which will surely heat up the flares of hostility. He has called for a caricature competition on Holocost!...

nyx - yeah. I also believe it is like that. It is so wierd to think abt the expansion of the idea though...

david - there is more abt this than a simple caricature by Denmark. The extent of the action & the flare up it has caused plus the news images showing wild reactions have a far greater goal...

kimia - well asumingly these too many NOs have led to their search towards joy :-)
