Valley Of Difference...

We used to stand together, shoulder to shoulder for the same cause. We could feel the warmth of each others breaths until the earthquake set this valley between us. Through all these years, we have grown shorter due to attrition as they have grown taller due to the skyscrapers they’ve built. So horizontally & vertically apart, the near past seems like an ancient myth. Can we someday sit down at the same table for a cup of coffee again?

Well, I don't think so. But I give you a good news that the difference grows so that you will never feel like to go back to those days.

I am thinking that the earthquake you describe is the Islamic revolution. I certainly hope for a future in which all Iranians can sit together at the table.

em - perhaps. modernisation has been a failure but there is no stop button.

actually have broken my diet & gained some weight :-S have to go to the gym more often now :-) merry x-mass

Kimia - And if we do get the chance perhaps it won't be as fun as it used to be before... merry x-mas

david - lol maybe that is somewhat true but even way before that when civilization was born gaps were created ;-) earthquakes happen worldwide & not always in the noisy style but silently. There is more like the middle class is vanishing & societies are dividing in two categories only...

Good question. Sometimes there is no going back; often we have to sidestep the old thought patterns to create new ones. The majority of us lack the simplicity and innocence, but not all.

Interesting indeed (thanks Foulla)! The middle class is vanishing in America too. Perhaps Republicans and Mullahs have more in common than most people would think!

Où sont passés les chemins de l'espoir
Dans quelle nuit au fond de quel brouillard
Rien n'a changé les damnés de la terre
N'ont pas trouvé la sortie de l'enfer

I think the time has pasted where we can "easily" go back and share the same coffee table. Too many seeds have hatred have been planted. Too many differences between the rich, poor, educated, uneducated, religious, and racial differences. I do have hope that sometime in the future we can all get over this and sit down together as human beings, but I think it'll get worst before it gets better.

Wars that were fought thousands of years ago are still being fought today and not until we stop instilling hatred and fear into our children can we move forward.

Just my thoughts...

Foulla - hope so :-)

LW - yeah sometimes the qualities change & even turing back is no use in the new conditions & situations. Good one LW.

David - yeah but it ain't just about them; Give anyone species too much rope and they'll f*ck it up ;-)

Farzad - Vouloir c'est pouvoir on dit mais... Sometimes it is just a simple writing on the wall with no reality to it ;-)

hydra - yeah this is a part of us evolving into such creatures.

Frank - comes to think of it maybe it won't gonna be pleasent at all to sit on the same table agn either ;-)

Foulla - Ca tombe tres bien.

NBB - what sense of sharing NBB?

Juliana - yeah the war is on but in a creeping style, endangering the human race. Differences have grown so much that it is hard even to categorise them these days...

Foulla - thanks. Wish U all the best as well.
